I have been enthralled by batik – wax resist - for over 40 years. I enjoy exploring the way the image slowly emerges through the application of alternate layers of hot wax and dye. Usually my paintings are figurative, my favourite theme being the fascinating buildings and people I come across on my travels.

I am a Persian multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in the UK. I specialise in Fine Art Photography and graduated in Master of Fine Arts and Photography from the University for the Creative Arts in 2020. Throughout my career, my work has concerned the relationships between cultural history, memory and identity as a Persian migrant. I often adopt a poetic, metaphorical approach to explore the difficulties and confusion of visually representing and conserving the Persian identity through the medium of Photography and the photo collage technique to tell the stories. I am interested in society's perceptions of Persian cultural identity and migration. Through my practice, I shift the Persian identity out of contemporary political criticism into dynamic, static, symbolic and magical art and history of Persia (4500 years of civilisation and history), which is hidden behind the political news in Western society.

I love to make meticulous pencil drawings, capturing tiny details and textures. I also combine freehand machine embroidery with colours, patterns, and embellishments that grab my attention. My main source of inspiration is nature, particularly insects, animals and flowers, and how beautiful the seemingly simple things in life are, when we take time to slow down and notice them.

I weave scarves and wraps in a studio in my garden. I use silk, fine wools, cotton and linen in my work which is inspired by the colours and textures I see in nature and architecture.

I have been needle felting for eight years now and have loved learning the new processes as I go along. Other than the occasional stab, it is a very relaxing art and is fascinating to see shapes slowly develop. Love sitting in piles of coloured wool ready to transform them!

Janet Edmonds

Venue 16

My work is based on walking in the countryside, organic subjects mainly trees in all their forms, mainly three dimensional but including 2D. Surface stitching explores surface.

My watercolours have an almost, photo-realistic style, depicting everything from flowers to landscapes and still life. My second medium is silk painting which are original ‘one off’ works of art on silk in the form of scarves, gallery wrapped paintings or silk backed plates.

I love working with vibrant Alcohol Inks on paintings, jewellery, lamps and up-cycled ceramic items; the colours move and blend as though they have a life of their own. I use Silk Dyes, a similar medium, on one of a kind silk scarves which are then steamed to set the beautiful colours.

I create embroidered artwork, using sustainable and ethical materials. I draw my designs, carefully digitise them, then use my embroidery machine to make them. This collection is inspired by the animals, plants, and anachronistic objects found in and around the Thames river. My artworks can be hung up, or sewn onto clothing and worn, as they are fully washable.

I work with natural fabrics to create quilts and textile pictures.
I enjoy creating bed quilts and wall hangings, based on the vivid colours and forms found within nature. Some quilts are abstract, free form pieced, inspired by the German Expressionists, other works are more traditional based on geometric shapes often found in buildings and townscapes.
Animals are a passion of mine, I recreate them in my raw edge applique pictures.
Flowers and landscape lend themselves to pictures made from various fabric scraps and threads with intense machine stitching, a method known as stitch art. I love the texture.
All my work is bespoke and individually made with a domestic sewing machine.

Kate Findlay

Venue 6

Kate is inspired by nature and the British countryside. She works solely in textiles, creating detailed and many layered pieces collaged from hand dyed and printed fabrics. Stitch is added, usually by machine to create further detail and texture.

I’ve been enchanted by fungi, magic, colour, and castles since I was very young. Creating art is where all those loves come together. My work is whimsical and joyful, and every piece I make feels like a small reflection of my passions and the world I carry inside as a creator. Making and drawing is an expression of me

Maria Loring

Venue 13

I create artworks on textile and paper using colour derived exclusively from plants. My work investigates botanical form, natural colour, and the relationship between material, place, and process.

My collections reflect an evolving practice influenced by seasonal colour and place. Each piece is unique, shaped by an authentic love of nature and a direct connection to the botanical world.

Marie Jones

Venue 25

Marie is a textile artist working with wool fibres, threads and fabric scraps, skilfully stitched, wound, bound, and fused through felting. Her practice is inspired by nature, drawing on the dramatic coastlines and landscapes of her native Scotland, as well as the softer forms of the Chiltern Hills, to create richly textured felt paintings.

Rachel Wright

Venue 16

Working on a normal domestic sewing machine, I create land and seascapes, birds and animals using machine embroidery worked over a collage of carefully selected cut and pieced fabrics. I use the fabrics to create my background and the needle and threads to draw the details.

Bespoke Handbags made from upcycled vintage fabrics. I gain inspiration from vintage styles from the 20s, 30s and 40s to create practical, usable bags from textiles such as vintage Harris Tweed jackets that have reached the end of their life as a garment - creating meaningful items from upcycled textiles.
