Lesley Dixon

I am currently practising ‘slow pottery’, using hand building methods with some thrown and altered pieces to create organic shapes, usually based on stones. I like to burnish the surfaces, and pit fire to achieve the soft subtle colours and intense blacks of the pit, always hoping to make something that people will want to pick up, and examine carefully.
I have a background as an art teacher. The work of artists and other cultures are an interest which have become embedded and influence much of my work.
